This from a while back. There was no movement in them, so i put the ISO down and just used a longer shutter for a nicer clarity.. Less grain...
the sky was just filled with this glow for over an hour.. It was different and really neat at the same time..

well i am in central Saskatchewan Canada, right along the Manitoba border.. im pretty much right in the auroral zone so i see them quite a bit... but just a few miles north of me or about 1 or 2 hours drive its even more common.. but it depends on where you are in the world.. how far north you have to be really depends on where you are in the world.. here in Canada anyplace that is across central Canada can usually see it providing its dark enough, starting from where i am it curves up to Alaska.. from what i understand those of us here in north America dont have to go as far north to see them cause of the north magnetic being just off the north eastern shore of Canada.. or so i read....
It's really superb Theo.... and also eerie. These aurora's are wonderful natural phenomenon my friend' and by the way I'm sure that you're prepare for this year... they predict a big solar activitie for this year... means more of these... Héhé I know a li'l bear who's gonna be busy this year. really nice snapshot Theo
