220th Anniversary of the execution of Louis XVI. by the mob of Paris.

Today, 23th January, King Louis XVI of France was beheaded. Surely he was not the ideal monarch, but he helped the States to achieve independence and rebuilt the French navy. It is said he was a kind, humble, and friendly man to all he met. He did not deserve that end, being humilated and spewed.
A 1000 years tradition being cut within a second. Countless people, of any class, killed, tortured, ruined, forced into exil. The great terror, the wars of the consulate, of the "empereur" Napoleon, all this desperate attemts to find a new identy in sprading a useless, bloody colonial empire...
Stand aside, France, and think of the misery you planted. The mob you gave power was badly advised, and the new altars of the nation will never replace the holy oil of Chlodwig I. They can bury the whole country in this tasteless tricolore colours, yet one single fleur de lys surpass all that in dignity.
