This is a sketch from my long torso era of my female mouse character Ketra Viktov trying to conduct some testing on the new ekranoplan she'd be racing. Unfortunately some of the "locals" are getting in the way. Ekranoplans are one of these neat concepts that I like to play around with. Unfortunately with the discovery that rogue waves are for real and more common than thought, it has put something of a damper on them. However, if one is racing them on relatively small or sheltered bodies of water then they may still viable. Also since they fly so close to the water they are easy to film for broadcast. Once you the get the ducks out the way!

Oh the Soviets explored them big time in the 1970's and 80's. They were looking at them as a form of long range high-speed attack craft that could be used to either launch high speed over-the-horizon amphibious assaults, or to act large anit-ship missile launch platforms to attack US Carrier groups. They actually got several large prototype models built and test them. The most famous came to be know in the west as the Caspian Sea Monster.
Just fire up that snarly little engiine. That should get them to move out of the way. By the way... Are the Ekranoplans similar to the Soviet "Sea Monster" spotted in the Baltic Sea around the early 1990s? Interesting concept. Yes... I think you might have something there with a new form of motor racing.
