Thanks to the ever-helpful Ryua over at dA, my new Zangoose girl has a name...this is Riki Kipling, daughter and only child of legendary arena fighter Ricky "The Ripper" Kipling.
Through an arrangement made by his League, the perpetually unwed Ricky was mated with a Ditto "surrogate" in order to insure that his bloodline continued; however, for reasons no one has been able to determine, the resultant offspring was born A} female and B} without claws, a double blow to the Zangoose and his backers. Despite his lack of interest (if not outright hostility) towards his "defective" offspring, he was persuaded by his League to enroll her in the finest schools (boarding, of course), culminating in her enrollment in the PCA, so that she might be married to another champion in order to breed further legends.
Needless to say, all this "loving" attention from her estranged father has led to Riki being a somewhat hostile and antisocial young woman, which is further complicated by her homosexuality, something she desperately tries to keep a secret from her father. In fact, if it weren't for her good friends and a few of secret lovers, she probably would've taken her own life years ago. Now, however, she's determined to overcome her physical disability and prove to her father, his backers, the world, and herself that she is the greatest fighter alive.
Also seen in this pic are her two rather unorthodox pieces of equipment:
First is her prosthetic claw brace: made from high-density plaseramic, these retractable talons are designed to be PCA-legal, conferring neither advantage or penalty to Riki's combat performance and allowing her to compete at the same level as "normal" Zangeese (Zangooses?) her age. Normally, the brace and retraction mechanism are probably hidden under her fur, but I drew them visible more for my own benefit as anything else.
Her other unusual item is that stylish belt around her waist. Yep, your eyes don't deceive you, she is wearing a Machoke Power Restraint Belt, a gift from a former trainer/lover. She typically keeps it hidden under her clothes, as no one but her best friends (and the former owner, naturally) even know it's there. Originally, she only kept is turned on when training, but, after years of secretly overcoming its draining ability in order to strengthen herself, she now needs to wear it at all times, much like a regular Machoke, in order to keep from accidentally injuring others.
In fact, the only time she ever DE-activated it in a fight was when she went up against Jacques L'Orange, in response to his "I am not left-handed!" moment during a non-sanctioned afterschool battle...even so, the fight was ultimately a draw, with both fighters passing out from exhaustion hours later. Since then, she and the Farfetch'd have been sparring partners and close friends, with Jacques acting as her pretend boyfriend in order to keep her true orientation secret.
I still need to work on drawing bigger girls, but Riki here seems to be a good source for practice.
