I had to share! I found a nice queen-size lime green sheet set at Target, and it's an awesome (well, for nobudget DIY) greenscreen. Unfortunately it doesn't stick to duct tape well - it fell down just after I finished a test shot, and took this picture. x.X LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of light, and still the result in the video was a bit dark. x.x
I suppose if I ever need to take greenscreen outdoors, I'll just find someone who knows Duncan. :D

The trick is to not light the screen and actors in front, with the same lights.
Think of the greenscreen as "background" and anyone in front as "foreground." Keep those two elements seperate.
Put lots of directional light on the background, but keep it behind your foreground actors. Light that sucker up bright.
Then you can light your foreground seperately, in whatever manner you choose.

Oh, I know. I had two big fluorescents aimed at it (although one of them didn't have a hood - time to go buy another $7 brooder). - you can see both of them, the brooder hood peeking in on the left, and the unmasked fluorescent against the wall on the right - giant bright spot.
And I didn't really have much for the front light, comparitively speaking - just the ambient light from the kitchen, and I turned on the dining room light too. So it was really contrastey foreground.

Sweet!
I'm needin to get something like this setup, though I've got a bit of a "room to put it in" issue. ;)
If you're dishin out money for light fixtures you might consider a florescent tube lite, like what they have in the store ceilings. This would provide better overall light for the length of the green screen behind you and help reduce any unwanted and hindering shadows.
Also be sure to sit about five feet in front of the screen, that way you won't cast a shadow on it yourself and have that ugly green shadow effect when you work on it in post. :)
