The gang of usual suspects I hang out with is doing a little artist challenge amongst ourselves for the upcoming FC art show. And since it's Furries in Asian the Chinese Zodiac only seemed appropriate. We mostly ended up with our birth year animals (we did have one overlap) and mine is the Ox. I choose to portray him as the Asian Water Buffallo. I love these guys! I really had a great time doing this. It's a shame it will most likely not sell for much, being not only a hoofy but one of the big, buff ones. But what the hey, I loved painting it anyway:). I've got the coolest frame for it too.

As always, a wonderful picture.
The composition and background are extremely good, suggesting a traditional Chinese painting without deliberately imitating the stylistic conventions, and I adore the contrast between the character's strong, masculine body and his much more - gentle - expression and clothing.

I love the idea of several artists working together over a theme like this. I wish I had the money to not only go to FC but to buy the series as I like the two I have seen so far.
I love the background as well as the Asian clothing / parts and like someone said you did it without going into a typical Asian styling. The birds give a great touch to the piece. The lighting on the buffalo with both the blue and the yellow is interesting.
