Dendroica coronata is found throughout the U.S., breeding from the east coast all the way to the Pacific, and down into Mexico. They migrate south to Central America and the Caribbean during winter, being one of the last to leave and one of the first to come back. They get their name from the yellow spot on their back, at the base of the tail, which can't be seen in this photo.
