I also liked how Maximilian looked in the "Forging alliances" pic, so I decided to use him again and change a few things so that it could make a clean pic without taking me too much time. So here's the result, Maximilian Gaurfain, one of the main chars of the comic I'm working on (and the main character in the first comic I'll post). And his three main accessories are visible here, his gold pendant representing a wolf's head, his father's bastard sword and his tattoo, wich is the symbol of the order he's part of, the King's Knights.
As for the title, "Fear not this night" is a song from the Guild Wars 2 game, and I was listening to it while working on this, and I felt it suited the pic pretty well, cause of the look on his face. And honestly, if you have the time, you should listen to this song, it's easily findable on youtube, and it's simply beautiful.
Anyway, that's it for now, more pics later this week normally. ^^

Indeed, the sword has always been seen as a noble weapon, unlike the axe or even the hammer, though I'll admit I've always had a soft spot for maces too. But it's visible with this character, I mean he always fights with the same weapons, a bastard sword, a shield (he uses it in a very offensive manner though) and a mace in case he's facing enemies in heavy armor.
Well, from what I know did many knights of the medieval and early Reneissance refuse to use Maces or Warhammers, since they saw those weapons, able to pierce armor without problems, as a unknightly weapon. Same counts for the Crossbow, it was banned by the Pope several times, since "Even the lowest peasant was able to kill the noblest Knight" with this weapon. Same counted for the Mace and Warhammers.
One reason for the fall of the Knights as a social placeholders for the warrior class was the fact that they were unable to use the technological advances in a proper way. I mean, what use has it when you wrapped in Metal but you are unable to move when your horse falls or you fall from its back, and everyone armed with a Halberd or another armor piercing weapon can kill you? This happened several times, starting with the Swiss rising against house Habsburg during the 14th century.

True, usually the only weapon they'd use would be the sword, since it was a noble weapon. Though I didn't go for that in my comic, the royal knights of the furry kingdom are alowed to choose whatever weapons they prefer, so even though they mostly stick to swords and shields, or bows for the archers, well they can still use warhammers or even axes if they want. They all wear the same armors though (they still get to choose between light, medium or heavy armor), same thing for the royal guards (except they only have heavy armor and all use the same weapons, long shield and spear).
Pretty good so far, still have two pages to do (the comic's 29 pages long), then I'll detail every page (cause I only did rough sketches for the moment), scan them, and add the colors. Though this time I'll scan the pages directly as pencil sketches, instead of inking them as usual, and I'll color them directly after that. ^^
