Couldn't resist doing an alternate version where she's colored more like a zebra. It's interesting ... not necessarily better, but interesting.

EDIT - Did a little tweaking--made the white parts brighter, the black parts darker, added a little pink to the ear, and fixed some parts where the shading could have been better.

Oh that way, heh. I think I'd do something of a Gradient Layer and "link it" with a Hue/Saturation layer with everything set to zero. And I would then erase the spots to make this symbol in the back, cause I can tell it's the basic color of the background to begin with. Heh, I seem to often use these layers to determine where stuff should show, even if all their attributes are zero.
