This piece was actually already done around summer last year. It was the centerfold of last year's EF's conbook.
I'm quite unhappy with the flat background. Well, I did learn a few things while painting this piece, anyway. So I hope I won't make the same mistakes again. :)

Beautiful! I love the shadows and highlights you created in this one. Curious what did you use to paint it? Watercolour? If so how ever did you get the colours to lay so smoothly and come out so deep? I just love the way you painted up that Buck too absolutely gorgeous! Great work!
Thank you very much! I tried reading a bit about back lighting before painting this piece, so I'm glad it worked out.
I used acrylic paints on Bamboo mixed media paper. However, how you already stated, I tend to use my acrylics like watercolours - with a lot of water and a lot of thin layers on top of each other. :)
