That's what sucked about yellow :P You either had to level Pikachu to level 20 so that it learns slam or get a Caterpie and evolve it to Butterfree. Otherwise you had no chance against Brock.

In FireRed, Charmander learns Metal Claw at like level 13. If you evolve it to Charmeleon at 16, can sweep Brock's gym. >_>

Um...what? I'm pretty sure Charmander was the most selected starter. It would have been selected more than Bulbasaur, at the very least.

Oh, no. I meant I haven't seen everyone go straight for fire. Most people seem split 50/50 between the two. Like, half the people seem to be for the fire, half for the water, so I was saying are you serious that everyone goes for fire? xD

Eh, it's very close together, but Fire is definitely ahead a tiny bit.

Gen 1 was definitely Fire
Gen 2 was also Fire
Gen 3... OH GEE, I WONDER WITH TORCHIC BEING IN THIS LIST. (Though the internets loves Mudkips, Torchic is definitely more popular)
Gen 4 actually had Water (Piplup) chosen most, but it wasn't enough to make up the discrepancy from the first 3 gens
and Gen 5 I'm not actually sure yet. They're all pretty close, but Tepig and Oshawott are ahead of Snivy.

My prediction for Gen 6? It'll be like Gen 5 because Chespin looks fucking stupid and who doesn't want an awesome Frog or Fennec as their starter?

I don't know where you're getting your facts, do you have a poll or anything? I'm honestly curious. The pictures on the internet don't equal the ones people pick. From the people I've talked to, online and in person, it was 50/50 for the first two games, and people seemed to like mudkip more. Idk about 4, it was not memorable.

General Pokemon sites you can read up. When Gen 5 was coming out Snivy was hailed as god. When his stats were revealed and people tried to use him, they were less than happy with him and ditched him fast. From what I've seen in my 14 years with the Pokemon community,
Gen 1 most played was Charmander with Squirtle being second and Bulbasaur close behind Squirtle.

Gen 2 most played was Cyndaquil. Totodile was right behind Cyndaquil with Chikorita being left way behind.

Gen 3 most played is Torchic. Blazekin ruled OU teirs and is nearly OP (Completely OP with Speed Boost which is why he's banned). Mudkip was second most wanted due to internet popularity while Treecko was right behind Mudkip although personal use, Treecko sucks. I've never used a Grass Starter that could not OHKO a Rock Gym Leader with a grass move.

Gen 4 Piplup was a greatly liked one but Infernapes physical strength had him leap into the lead. Turtwig was ok as a starter but incredibly slow and had a glaring Ice weakness when evolved so it went Chimchar, Piplup, Turtwig.

Gen 5, Snivy was hyped to be the best, Oshawott was said to be the worst. Tepig was somewhere in the middle if not lost in translation. When the games came out, the exact opposite happened. Most of the Snivy lovers started with Oshawott and left Snivy to the same fate as Chikorita while Tepig was grossely hated because of typing. Even with all of Tepigs hate, it was still used more than Snivy as it had a slightly better move pool than Snivy does.

A lot of the info differs by region and website so its usually easier to get a large scale picture when you go out and ask the questions yourself. That is everything I had seen and experienced as a fan of the series.

My starter primary choice for each generation.

In my opinion, this club should have Squirtle, Chikorita, Torchic, Chimchar, Tepig, and Froakie.

Charmander, Cyndaquil, and Torchic are actually the most chosen starters for their generations. I don't think fire has ever been one of the least chosen until 4th/5th but even then its a close count.

4th I'd say Piplup was definitely chosen more and 5th I'd say they were pretty close.

As for Grass, the closest they were was Gen 3 because Treecko is awesome, but they have ALWAYS been least picked.

After Shitchar the ape came along. I lost all hope in EVER considering fire.

Fennekin looks terrible. Gigantic head, elaborate ears, and no body or neck to hold up such a massive head. I like Chespin and Froakie, though.

I chose fire nearly all the time. Charizard is badass, Cyndaquil is super cute, Torchick is kinda cute and Blaziken is pretty badass. In 4th gen I took Chimchar because all 3 sucked equally... I didn't start the others yet...
Also: wtf? In Pokémon Battle Revolution you get starters based on your gender, how sexist is that?
