11/13/2014 EDIT: I think its time for a brief update on this hot tamale. Thank you all for all these faves, comments and reposts. Its ironic to me that a simple little comic I did during class to reflect the acceptance of my own furryness ended up becoming something so many people were amused by and can relate to. Glad it brought some smiles to faces, and is continuing to do so even now, since its been almost two damn years.... I can hardly even believe it. This fandom has been an integral part of my life for almost two years... And the scary part is that I can imagine myself marveling at how the fandom has been a part of my life for five years, and feeling like tonight was yesterday as I think about it.

I have not taken my pants off in years due to (dramatic gay back story) then I became a (your military of choosing) after that (decide the fate of 1000000 people and how I react to it) then I realized I was still wearing my shiny metal space marine pants. I later got (married to anything of your choosing as long as it is as gay as possible and revolves around the Special Olympics) after many years of a beautiful marriage (choose a gay ass end of the world scenario) then I met a coyote that I now stalk when I am not doing work and or staring at a bunch of ones and zeros that make video games. Wow wasn't that great story for the children.

I sort of came into it from gaming, but I'd been exposed to it long before without realizing. I was just 'Ah, I will make a character, hang out with folks on this server' and someone passed me one of the earlier furveys. Filling it out, I had a 'oh, I get it' moment when I realized that this had been with me since childhood, I just never recognized it.

i had this discussion with my furry-hating cousin who instantly realized i was one, about 2.5 years ago.
even though hes a total outsider, even he realized that fox furries were almost always gay.
it was a close call between coyote and wolf. but im a sneaky, small little fuck. so coyote. every other aspect personality could go you know, like wither way in terms of coyote/wolf.

red wolves. but still, theyre much more like wolves, practically wolves with sort coats (which is tight). I like the stereotype of coyotes. smaller, adaptable, sneaky. they have thrived where every other animal has failed (save for dogs) and theyre opportunist. even though one killed my first cat.
and another tried to kill my other cat through a window. that didnt go well for him. all i can say is that the fucker is lucky my dad stepped out with a machette expecting a person, and not a gun expecting a yote O_O

Welcome to the club. I was really into furry shit for like...5-6 years but always said I'd never go to a convention. I made an FA and it sat dormant for a year and a half.

When I go, though...it's usually just three days of drinking with good friends, attending panels and events that may mildly entertain us(MFM has a two hour panel where we just sperg out about heavy metal), and making fun of certain furries. All in all, they can definitely be fun.
But they aren't for everyone.

If you avoid the hardcore bronies, then nope. My best guess is because the non-creeps(i.e. the not-so-hardcore furries) have the same mentality as me: I like cons...but I'm not gonna travel 8+ hours and spend thousands on attending conventions. I'm just not that into it. Most I've ever dropped on a con was $450....including food.

Also it seems to be a thing a lot of people I know who eventually say they are a furry seem to go through. It's usually the very negative image that furries have. Heck, even Bronies seem to fill the same noke but don't want to be associated. Either way, the only way you are a furry, is if you say you are.

i kind of agree with you. ive often said youre not furr unless you say you are a furry. and the answer to the question "are you a furry?" would totally depend on who was asking for me. fratt kid? NOPE. cute college girl? maybe kinda. another furry? DEPENDS
....although if somone wants a fursuit, is on FA all the time, has a fursona, and draws furries/commissions furries all the time, id probably say they were a fur IMO

Because I thought having a pet fox would be kickass, I looked up the company that sold them; they had a link on their "our customers" page that put me on FA. I started reading furry webcomics, got a tablet, registered with FA, and that was that. *pop* Furry.

I thought about furry stuff since i was very young, as early as i can remember, but when i found out furries existed i thought it was wierd and i wouldnt want to be one for some reason. Pretty soon i realised there was nothing wrong with it and been feeling great ever since :P

bah, those things arent too big of a factor for me. dont really wana go to a con, i dont RP, never cared for the starfox games. i like some porn, but even that was never a huge focus.

well usually my stuff is inspired by music. but this was something that just kinda popped into my head in class one day when i was thinking about how long id actually been furry, versus when i actually admitted it. im not really sure anything in particular inspired this other than the realization that i was in fact furry.

Admittedly they are incredibly similar. i dont see a ton of similarity in the dialogue frankly, but I can clearly see why this seems to be inspired by the comic you linked me to. I dont use any furry sites beyond FA. if it found its way to FA, then i may have come across it at some point, although I dont recall seeing that comic previously. Not on FA, or anywhere else.
In any case, I didnt do my comic based on anyone elses work. I dont expect you to believe that. Given the similarities between the two, I probably wouldnt if I were in you place. I mean, they are strikingly similar, im not going to lie. But I stand by my statement that this is simply the product of me mulling over the fact that I cant deny being furry any more. I take great measures to make sure i am not just replicating things people have already made. it kind-of defeats the point of creativity does it not? Had I been thinking of the comic you linked me to when creating this one, i would have at least made mention of the fact that another very similar comic already exists. Admittedly they are incredibly similar. i dont see a ton of similarity in the dialogue frankly, but I can clearly see why this seems to be inspired by the comic you linked me to. I dont use any furry sites beyond FA. if it found its way to FA, then i may have come across it at some point, although I dont recall seeing that comic previously. Not on FA, or anywhere else.
In any case, I didnt do my comic based on anyone elses work. I dont expect you to believe that. Given the similarities between the two, I probably wouldnt if I were in you place. I posted it here on FA two years ago. I had since deleted my gallery and started afresh. You'll have to understand my incredulity... this came up on the heels of my deleting the comic I had done. And I would not make a groundless accusation. I asked a handful of readers to compare the two, and they didn't think I was shooting intellectual blanks with my accusation here. Given that a lot of your comics don't use a panel structure, I found it a little damning that this one did and had a near identical pacing. As for dialogue, you may have worded it in your own way, but that is merely personalisation. I would totally buy what you're selling were it not for the ending. To me, the "pop" with the clothes coming off is a clincher. Followed by the crying. That is not necessarily a natural conclusion. Were it a more general predictable ending, I would drop this. But no. I don't totally buy that you were never familiar with this comic at some point, but I do not think you were malevolent or intentionally ripping me off. This comic did make the rounds on FA for awhile while it was initially posted. You may have unconsciously tucked this comic away in your mind and drawn it later thinking it was original.

Honestly, I can relate to this. I think it was around 1999 or 2001 is when I got curious enough to see what kind of "animal people" art there was on the net. For me it was dragons instead of canines. I ended up finding a picture of a blue anthro dragoness with breasts. Second I saw that, I was compelled enough to print it out on paper no matter how weird I felt, looking at a picture of a dragon girl with boobs. Then it just sort of progressed from curiously searching for furry art on the web to finding sites that specialized in furry art. Then eventually I stumbled upon FA some how, made an account and been here ever since. I can try denying that I'm not a furry all I want but it just tells others I am one the more I do. :P

My friend was kind of easy because I brought up a conversation about furry art, without actually mentioning furry art. Like I'd curiously ask if he was into weird shit like shapely wolf/cat chicks with nice breasts and hips because he had some animal character pics on his wall. But they were tame general art. He was mostly into anime nudity so I just asked out of being curious. Once he said yes I told him "oh you should go to this site I go on. Be careful since 90% of it is dick art." and gave him FA's address. I sent him some of my fave pics of Strider Orion's character Half & Half. Then next thing I know when I went to his house a week later he showed me that he made an FA account and he had some nudy fur art he liked of various furry chicks setup as his desktop bg in stream mode. So he had a mix of wolf, cat and horse girls with nice figures setup as his desktop.
I guess it's kind of like getting a cold at times. It starts off not so bad at first. Then the second you turn your back you're engulfed in it. Looking through naughty furry art for hours on end. Next thing you know it's 3:00 in the morning, you're yawning your butt off going "Must fave artist before sleep comes =_O."
It actually took me a bit before I got comfortable enough to make a fursona for my account. Now, since the guy I originally made to match my account name doesn't match my personality in any way, I came up with my character Takuya who happens to be a fem boy. I guess that's what happens when Drayk is one of the people you watch and his character ends up being enough enticement for you to make your own.... :/
Oh well, it's not like I go outside and scream to my neighbors that I'm a furry... :P

Funny thing is my mom could careless. I've shown her weird drawings I've done during high school when I was in my late teens, early 20's and she just acknowledged that I drew good. She never really questioned why it was some cat girl with boobs. If I drew anything naughtier than that I just kept it to myself and made sure no one found it. Because in all honesty it was no ones business but my own. After you've been a fur for a year or two you swear you've seen everything and then some. Eventually you stop caring about what others think, accept that you've become weirder than normal, roll with it and just enjoy the art from your favorite artists.

As a teen, many, many years ago, I was more religious and I said I'd never be part of this sexual fandom. It was too fucking perverted and gross. After I changed my views on religion a few years later, I stopped giving a fuck about the sexuality in the fandom. You'd think it wouldn't be a big thing for me, coming from a more or less secular household. But somethings are universal I guess. But oh God. Public suiting gone bad. I felt I had to comment. seeing how I've been in the Fandom since 1986. There's some who might say, "Be careful what you wish for, as you may just get it." I've witnessed many "Little Success Stories" about those who found the Fandom and it helped bring them out more socially. I admire the creativity and crafting skills of the multitudes of artists and creative people who work and struggle to bring their fantasies into being. Sure, the Genre has it's "Dark and seamy side," But I have noted similar traits in many genres of hobbies, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and fan art. (Yes... There are even X-Rated model railroad enthusiasts.)

Oh at this point I have. This was a funny little tongue-in-cheek comic I made long ago when I was just realizing I was a furry by almost every definition of the term I knew. Was one of those "I just like anthro stuff, I'm not furry" faggots before then.

dude that seems to happen to a lot of people. I know a lot of furs who were never interested in a fursuit, but the minute they went to a con, or tried on a fursuit they were like
"This goes against everything I thought was me but I fucking want one."

It was mostly my damn fetish that got me into furries, then it slowly became more than that. To watching normal furry arts and actually liking it, to making a fusona in my head while thinking "this doesn't mean anything!". In one point I just stop fighting it and say "I'm a furry ya happy!?". This actual picture while funny, got me scared for how accurate it was with my "transformation".

Looking at the comments here is like... looking at a time capsule from a long time ago, which it was it's been a decade since this was made, this has had an impact on me and I don't know how to describe it, like, I went through roughly the same shit when I was a teenager but I did eventually come to accept it too, this really helped with acceptance honestly, so for this I want to say thank you, it's not much but hey at least I finally found the original post.

But this ripped me in half.
I'd like you to know that this comment helped me decide that I need to resume my art. I dont know if it will ever reach FA, but I need to create shit. If a single post can have this effect, its worth it. Time-capsule, effect makes it even better. No-homo of course.
