I though it was clothing at first. Like, it doesn't really look like skin. I guess to me it would just be more logical for the skin to transform and grow hair as opposed to be ripped off with another skin and fur underneath. :p

normally i would be a little freaked out by this... however...
in some of the New x-men comics there is a mutant girl codenamed "husk" her power is being able to turn her skin into nearly any material, and shed the old one by sorta flash frying it. then peeling it off as it's no longer attached to her form. that's kinda how this works from the looks of it.
