You can beat the blue turtle shell if you're clever, the only way I've done it is to constantly watch the item screen for the other racers, and hope to god that someone is close to you when it's fired, then you let that person inch ahead of you and the shell will take them out instead. Granted this is not foolproof and I've seen three, yes THREE of these fuckers fired back, to back to back. Aint no fooling that crap let me tell you
That IS how it started out in the first place. I think it was more stressful in Mario Kart 64. You could actually hear it closing in on you rather than just sounding like an impending missile on the radar screen. We've heard that "Beebeebebebebeep" sound before, but there was nothing more stressful than just hearing the sound of that blue shell of death closing in...slowly getting louder until BAM! Gotta love the classics and their cameos. >:3
Ugh, don't you just hate it when someone gets one of those? In Mario Kart 7, you have to make sure you're not in the air over a pit or something, over solid ground is better, when it catches you, as that wouldn't be good. You also have to make sure you're not in its way if someone uses it and you're not in first. Don't want to get run over by it. If you notice someone get the shell and you're in first, slowing down and letting someone pass you before it's fired is a good idea...... just be sure you're not close enough to be hit, as well.
