The Athlos are said to be high, divine and noble, only not worshipful, for the gods reserved that right. They are a scriptural or mythical race, described to have a-sundered from their choice to live in Va, the Chaotic Underworld. They are divine because they continued to be an affront to the demons of Va. They are noble or righteous because even in the face of great peril, they remained triumphant and steadfast. To scholars, they are the personifications of the ideal Rau, ancestral virtues made manifest. The most famous and important of all Athlos is of course Thothmothoth, ninth King of the Athlos and lord of Va.
