More work on the Deathwing continues apace. Today I've been working on the main armour plates.
The painting style that I'm using is called a zenith lighting style. To you and me that means looking down from the top of the model and painting up the areas where light falls the strongest. you'll notice that the underside of arms and shoulder guards or inner areas shrouded by other parts of the model retain more grey than bone to the look, this is the natural gradient of light that I try to follow. I do exaggerate it in places to give the model some extra brightness but for the most part I stay true to the natural fall of light.
This time I painted up the previous grey armour with a mix of Codex Grey and Dheneb Stone (I'm still lucky enough to own several pots of this paint). If you don't have these colours, you can use Dawnstone and a 50/50 mix of Rakarth Flesh and screaming skull.
He looks more like a Deathwing terminator already
