oil isnt depleting. america gets a ton of oil from the war in the middle east, and a ton from the oilsands in alberta, plus everywhere else they get it. the main areas are not running low. once that IS gone, in a loooooong time, synthetic oil (which already exists) will replace it.
oil is expensive because oil companies are crooked. the more oil there is the more they charge for it. makes sense right?
