Sometimes I feel like my art defines me more than I define my art. This is how it feels.
My final project for Intro to Drawing. The assignment was to think of something we really cared about, something important to us, and show through a picture just how much we care about that something. So ya know, at first, I thought of the typical things like family and church and friends and stuff, but I really wanted to do something more specific to me. Then I thought, art is one of the most important things in the world to me. So after a lot of thought and sketching, always moving farther away from the blunt or direct approach, I came up with this. Being an artist means the world to me. And this is how it feels.
(watercolor, Prismacolor pencils, graphite - 18 x 24 inches - 10.5 hours) Sorry if the values look a little weird in places. I had to scan it in 8 pieces.
Major props to my roommate for being the best gravity-defying model ever. How did we do it, you ask? Magic.

Eight pieces? This must be a really huge piece! o_o
It's absolutely amazing, I admire everyone who can work on such a large surface and still retain their sense of proportions. Anything bigger than a regular printing paper and I tend to mess up.
As I said, visually this is gorgeous, but it's really the meaning behind it that captivates me. Art is truly one of the best things in the world and what keeps us going. You expressed that wonderfully.

I am stunned with awe. The black and white makes the focal point to the person and then it draws you near the vibrant colors. I must say that he black and white artwork is more interesting because its rarely used and people don't expect it.
The emotion and the facials features are calming and as the anatomy is perfect.

The is a neat concept and captures the idea of creative energy and your relation to the world of your art well. I really dig the black-and-white merging with the burst of color. Wonderful work on both the grays and the colors hear. You also draw humans and life art quite well.

okay. i'mma copy what ayelet said about size and proportions XD I've done a few life-size cutouts and it's pretty hard to keep in proportion-
but anyway. just . . WOW.
I kinda feel like she's just gonna be swallowed by the color and sort of .. be sucked into happy bliss-land.
the feeling is hard to explain, but you've done it perfectly..
You wouldn;t mind if i happened to use this as my desktop, would you?
