I sketched it with pencil, then inked it with a fine quill and India ink and erased the sketch. After that, I painted the characters with coloured pencils, and painted the background with a mix of watercolour pencils and watercolours. Then I added little details with white acryllic paint, like the gleam in their eyes or the steam :)

They look like colour pencils and they can be used as normal colour pencils, they just have the property to turn into watercolours when you add water to them. There's a video about that so you can see what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRVkG6HhwBE
