This needlefelt Chu Totoro looks like he's lost all his friends. At least he still has his acorn to keep him company! At about 7 1/2 inches tall, Chu Totoro is big enough to hug - or just big enough to hold his acorn. He - and his acorn - are both 100% needlefelt.
Chu Totoro proved to be a bit of a challenge to needlefelt because I couldn't find the exact right shade of blue-gray as he appears to be in the movie. His new owner is still pleased with his slightly-more-blueishness.
This little guy is part of a set that was commissioned for Christmas; when the commissioner asked me to make a set of needlefelt plushes based on Hayao Miyazaki's film "My Neighbor Totoro" I was quite elated! I had been wanting to make Totoros for quite a while, and this was the perfect excuse.

Totoro is one of my favorite movies of all time! I've found that I have a very new and different appreciation now that I've watched it with my young nieces and nephews :3
In fact, I am always accepting commissions - a commission for a Totoro like this would cost somewhere around $25 (plush shipping and handling, of course.) Feel free to send me a PM if you're interested, I LOVE making Totoros!
