One of the two progress pictures I will be uploading tonight.
Over about 30 hours combined over several days has gone into her thus far. I'm rather frustrated and anxious, as I can't go any farther until I have her wooden base and supports finished. And with this midwestern "blizzard" that has pretty much blocked the barn doors where the wood and saws are, I cannot go any further for some time. VERY FRUSTRATING.
I was trying to go for a stalking/sneakign pose, hense the raised front foot and the outstretched neck. Some of her feet look a
-little- off as the 2nd phalanges were missing completely. So I had to replace them with extra 1st phalanges I had on hand. None of her claws are her original claws, I had to get them from another supplier. So they may look a little big for her. I love it all the same.
Sophia's tail is finished, and just waiting to be attached. Which I can't attach until she's resting neatly on her stand, I don't want to risk breaking it, so I will attach it as a last piece when the stand is done.
Yes. Its real. She wasn't killed for me, either. And she, like -all- my collection, is treated with the highest level of respect and adoration. She is a very much treasured piece of my collection, and has taught me so very much about canine anatomy.

Thank you! Some of her ribs are bothering me greatly, they dried at odd angles (there is one rib that sticks out WAY too far on one side) but I'd tried to remove it and adjust it, but that sucker just WON'T come off! So I guess she's just going to have wonky ribs. LOL. Lesson learned for the next articulation!
It is bothering me ALOT that her 2nd phalanges are missing. Everything else was there except for a few of those. Come to think of it two out of four feet are complete. So I guess I can't complain -too- much given that everything else was accounted for. even her sesamoid bones were acounted for! Family is somewhat creeped out by my choice in this hobby, trying to share my triamph with mom and she's like "...o...okay then. what ever." was the only input I got...
-_-
should be fairly easy to find some wolf claws, but then...I guess one has to be careful to get -wolf- claws and not claws mislabled as such....I've seen severa listed as wolf but ended up being coyote/brush wolf. There IS a difference people...

Did you use any kind of guidebook for doing the articulation? I've had my eye on one that's meant for moose articulation, as I'm about to be doing a white-tail doe, and that seems to be the best / closest one I've managed to come across.
She looks great, at any rate - definitely quite a piece for any collection!

If you look closely on the table beneath her feet, you'll see the guide I am using for her articulation. I was able to figure out most of it without the guide, but it was extremely helpfull when it came to assembling the feet and ankles/wrists. I'm going to assume that the manual you are looking into purchasing is that by "Lee Post" am I right? He does have one for moose, that is intended to be used for most species of ungulates (like white tailed deer) so that guide will work just fine for articulating her. Their anatomy, as far as bones go, is very very similar. You'd use the same methods for both species.
Thanks very much ^^

Yep, the one I was talking about was by Lee Post - this one, particularly http://www.theboneman.com/moosedeerskeletons.html
