I don't have a lot of super deep thoughts about these guys, but the one thing that sorta drove their personality in my head was the concept of a peaceful alien race that isn't just a bunch of pussies.
So, the scene I imagine is these guys touching down on earth, probably in the middle of some big city, after having their energy shields repel some anti-aircraft missies like they're no big deal, march out in a group of, like, 5 with weapons drawn, with a big ass group of US military surrounding them. A guy (probably an officer) has the nerve to draw a gun and point it at them, so their leader takes a carefully aimed shot with his energy weapon and shoots the thing out of his hand (melting it irrepairably, at that) and announcing "We come in peace - but we're prepared to defend ourselves if necessary."
so I kinda imagine them being a bit smug, and maybe a little up their own ass, but overall friendly and agreeable, though not willing to take serious shit from anyone. I imagine their armor sorta Turian shaped, with the big dome helmet for a full viewing arc, with some kind of shielding for protection, on top of space age materials or something.
