Santa was beginning to get lonely having to deliver all of those presents by himself. The sleigh was already cramped as it was so he couldn't just bring someone along to talk to during that long cold night.
Then he had an idea, what if the person didn't have to sit in the sleigh at all? After unwrapping the gift and touching the magical harness, this lucky guy discovered exactly what Santa meant when he was asked to be his new 'companion'. Whether or not the spell would wear off after Christmas is yet to be tested though...

I remember coming up with a similar story to this, involving a man redeeming himself from the naughty list by becoming a reindeer-taur and helping fly Santa's sleigh--and his transformation turned out to be (accidentally) permanent...
