An experiment I mentioned in my last journal. This will be an interactive story. Read, vote, participate, and help influence where the story goes next.
This is just the establishing setting. And here's the first choice.
What species and profession would you like to have. Species I'll leave open to any ideas thrown at me, You can either write in your own choice or agree with someone else. Whatever top four species get the most votes will be used in the story, but you can only vote for one species in your post. And posts listing more than one species will only have the first species counted.
Second we need the different types of adventurers. For that I have a short list. These are just rough examples of how each time will act and might be subject to some slight alteration.
Knight:
PROS - Highest defense of any of any type. Can charge in and take minimal damage using only brute force. Physically the strongest of the types can lift rocks nearly as big as himself with ease.
CONS - Aside from fighting skills, not the most knowledgeable of the group. Stubborn as they day is long. Prefers to solve arguments with fists rather than words. Singleminded when it comes to following orders.
Paladin:
PROS - Can wear plate-mail. Has healing spells and spells for dealing with demons or undead. Skilled with a number of one and two handed weapons. A champion of holy justice everyone knows them to be good in nature. Not easily corrupted.
CONS - The second slowest runner after the Knight. Has a hard time lying. Not very stealthy.
Thief:
PROS - The fastest and most agile of the types. Can perform simple mind tricks to remain unseen even in broad daylight. Deadly with twin daggers, either handheld or throwing types. Can pick locks and search for traps of the physical nature.
CONS - In a one on one fight, the second weakest of the types, just above the Mage. Has no skill with any weapons bigger than small blades. Unable to detect magic based traps or locks.
Mage:
PROS - Strong and divers spell library. Keeps a inventory of rare and magical ingredients for all situations. Can blast enemies from great distances. Has knowledge of arcane lore.
CONS - Cloth robes make for the weakest defense. Bigger spells take longer to prepare and use more energy.
Archer:
PROS - Skilled with all manor of Bow type weapons. Deadly accurate at long range. Expert tracker. Knows wild animals and their mannerisms. Has excellent eyesight, even in the dark.
CONS - Wears only light leather armor. Skills are weak at close range. Prefers the company of animals over other beings.
Priest:
PROS - Can heal or cure nearly all dangerous afflictions. Can protect and shield against evil curses and dangerous forces. Can commune with the spirits of the dead and put lost souls at rest.
CONS - Little to no fighting skills at all. Cloth armor means weak defense. Is so trusting and kind hearted can often be taken advantage of by the more unscrupulous.
There's the list. Remember the top four types picks will be used in the story. Others might show up, but will remain NPCs who won't stay through the whole thing.
So in summary, your post should be your preferred species and your preferred. Bear in mind they don't have to be the same character. Example. If you say Tiger and Priest. One species might be a tiger, but that doesn't mean they will be a priest.
The voting will go until Midnight on Christmas Day, just to give everyone plenty of time to find this. After that the decisions will be made and the first chapter will go up before the week is out hopefully.
