For the first time in a few years I got the tree up and decorated -- it took a little help, though. Steven, a friend of mine, came over for the evening, and we both tackled the job. I"m rather glad he did, because I wore out much quicker than I ever expected. But we got it done.
No room under the tree for the gifts, so I guess I'll just pile those on the coffee table for now.
As you can see, Saara Mar has her own miniature Christmas...

A silver spaceship. It's a representation of the "Starfire," her very own home away from home and the means by which she is here on Earth. The representation isn't very accurate though -- it should be somewhat flattened on top, and the nose tilted upward to bring her flight deck up to the level of the ship's upper side. There are also supposed to be a half-dozen fucusing filaments in the exhaust-like opening at the rear. Inside the ship has no bearing on the outside, and the interior decks radiate outward from the bow-to-stern lenght of a ship like spokes on a wheel -- but none of that is tangible from the outside.
The halo on the star is merely translucent nylon fiber, but spreads the light from behind well. Unfortunately, a few hours after putting up the tree, the star blew up. There was a bright white flash and I think a bit of a pop. I tried to replace the bulbs, one by one, in case it was just one of them burned out in a dramatic fashion, but it didn't work. Eventually, I removed all the remaining bulbs and replaced the unlit star on the tree. It's not bad, not the same either. I'll try to find an inexpensive replacement after Christmas.
