My mother who lived to be 93, lived in Brooklyn when a little girl, and where I work is within walking distance of her old home. One night she waited on the stairs to the entrance hall, for Santa, and fell asleep. Her mother found her there and woke her, telling her that the blind lady upstairs was liable to trip over her ! I've seen the stairs she talked about, and heard many other stories about the neighborhood. She'd drift into these regalings ,but had trouble remembering the day of the week, the month, the year !
