the armor looks the 51-b or the T-454 power armors from the FallOut series and the gun reminds me of the gun that the medic from TF2 uses.

i dunno if that was where he referenced the armor from, but the gun was designed to resemble that of a medic. that was my intention as he is a medic/engineer(if memory serves me correctly... i'm sorta tired and out of it though) note the red cross and caduceus on his chest plate?

I referenced the power armor from Alien Swarm(which is FTP on Steam!). The medigun also makes an appearance there as a healing tool, but in a different fashion (Just healing, no Uber). Normally those armors include a helmet, but given this is a simulation, and noone can tell the char under a helmet, I just had a headpiece and combat optics added.

No. While the concept itself can definitely be said to have taken inspiration from XCOM(amongst other things, Alien Swarm being the core), it's actually part of a distinct universe.
