I uploaded a WIP version of this QUITE some time ago and it honestly looked like crap compared to this version. The key (aside from the fact its done) would be the new lighting. I threw in a Mental Ray Daylight system and godamn did it look sweet, and most importantly, a step closer to realism. Anyway, this scene was finished at the beginning of the year.
Over 300 hours to render this. I ended up using many of my schools labs as render farms during the countless times I would stay overnight there. The rendering could have taken a significantly less amount of time, but I wasn't aware of some technical techniques which would have helped. Thankfully I'm well aware of them now and more efficient because of these mistakes.

I remember that one from a while back, looks great and even more so with the lighting. I've been trying to light like that for a while, is mental ray's daylight system pre-packaged with max or is it a plug-in. So far the closest I've come is just setting up two lights a low intensity blue and low intensity yellow, but that still doesn't come close to this. Great Job :3
