I know its hard to see, but there are patterns and symbols on this one too. I used two shades of metallic blue, but it doesn't show up well in photos. If you look closely you can make out the swirl pattern.
Last year tons of cicadas swarmed my home, so I collected quite a few of the left over shells. The shells were cleaned and painted, this is the result.
Something pretty cool about these guys is they still stick to clothing. You can still wear them even after they have been painted. I also figured out how to reposition them, so I can pose them any way I want to. I'll probably make more of these when I get another chance.
