This is the logo for a fictional Brazilian association football team in my universe, Clube de Regatas Pão de Açúcar, commonly just called Pão de Açúcar.

Sports actually plays quite a big part in my universe. For example, my character Ruth is a big fan of her hometown Boston teams, and Cynthia's former boyfriend Vic de Veeres eventually plays in the pro football league where the Polars are. Originally I had my characters involved with real teams, like the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. However, I discovered I had a penchant for making up cool team names, and decided to go with wholly fictional teams.

Pão de Açúcar plays in Maracanã Stadium, originally based in the neighborhood of Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro. They are mostly based on real team Flamengo, although they have the club's original colors of blue and gold. They are named after Sugarloaf Mountain, an icon of Rio that easily seen from Flamengo Beach. They are the favorite team of my character Paola Rios.

Pão de Açúcar's sponsor is the Corporação Brasileira de Petróleo (Cobrapet), the Brazilian national oil company and an ersatz Petrobras.

Pão de Açúcar holds a rivalry with the other three teams based around Rio, most notably Clube de Futebol Carioca, known as the Derby do Carpão (a combination of the two teams' names which translates into "big carp").
