Here's the Sample of How Bad the Landslide was in 1983. My mom and dad Was around when Utah had Its worst flood season in 1983. My dad Was a EMT At that time the rode was block between South Gunnison to North Gunnison and Manti Utah by the Sanpicth River My dad Had to Sandbag on that year.

All I remember of it is that it occured due to two main causes 1) was heavy rains in the area over the corse of a couple of weeks and the second cause was that the sububan neighborhood had cut into a portion of the hill side there by weakening the geoligic structure of the hill side the result being a land slide that buried the majority of the neighborhood
