This is an animation I did for my class. The kitty is Rune, and the dog is Piro. I was pretty happy with this, only it's really grey in the beginning. I'm going to get that fixed, definately. :p

Yeah, I have an animation class. If you want to see my first *gag* animations I've ever done, look up sairune on youtube, heh heh. I'm getting a little better though. His name is supposed to be pronounced "Pie-ro" but sometimes I pronounce it Pee-ro. I don't know why. :)
Well... yes, at least I did. I'm not sure if it was a pre-requisite. Fundamentals of drawing was more for still art and learning to shade... stuff like that. The reel I made was the final for my Principals of Animation class, where we learned how to do it, as well as what we need to thing of while we're at it, like the 12 principals of animation. Before I took that class, I thought you just did one drawing, and then the very next one. That's how it can be done, but I found out that there's a much better way to do it and that's by pose-to-pose. That's where you draw one pose, like her waiting for the fish, and then another pose, her hand in the water. Then you use a light table to draw a picture of what she looks like between the other two. It works a great deal better. ^^
Amazing!
I've found out that in a lot of art, the techniques are similar. Like when painting a still life, I was told that it was best to paint, first, the object on the left side then the right side, then work in between from there.
There are so many classes to take, I don't know if I'll ever get into animation classes. I mean everytime, since elementary school. I always had to take the design classes where we did work like "Positive & Negitive space", worked with Motif's and stuff like that. Hopefully I can get past the design part and get to the drawing (all this time and I haven't yet had a single drawing class, ever).
But I'm glad things are working for you.

I've never really liked painting either but it kind of grows on you. I actually liked it more because you can paint as sloppy as you want and as long as you have the framework done, you can always paint over the mistakes (but only if your careful to paint lightly like a pencil sketch so you Can paint over it). But the hardest thing of all is finding and buying all the needed materials. It's the same aspect with any form of art where you have to picture a scene, you have to make sure the sides fit in so you will capture the whole thing.
Yes, it's my second semester in this university majoring in Fine Arts/Computer Graphics, I almost ended up going into a technical school like Art Institute.
I'm so far out of touch in the knowledge of design that those classes had me disowning the title of "Artist", I swear I was going to give up art and deside to write stories or do music.
What did you have to do in 3d class and how did you like design class?

I never really cared for painting, since it's such a mess, and I feel bad when I wash out the cups and stuff, pouring all those chemicals down the sink. Plus, I'm to lazy to clean up the paint afterwards anyways. :3 I'd rather paint using photoshop anyday though.
In my 3d classes, we have to learn how to model things, dreate scenery and objects as well as characters. We also have to animate them, which I don't find fun at all. It seems like people at my school either love 3d and hate 2d, or vise-versa. More people like the 3d though, because they say it's easier.
What do you mean by they have you disown the title of artist? that doesn't make sense at all. Do you really like to write stories that much? I wouldn't mind reading one of yours! =O
The design class was okay, but throughout the other classes, they constantly bring up design aspects in your compositions.

It is a pain to clean up, especially the infamous acrylic (known for drying quickly though washable) I'd be at the sink scrubbing the paint off forever. Oh what I almost wouldn't do for a touch of photoshop *sigh*
"One of these days Sairune, one of the days BANG! ZOOM!"
I'm not going to say that your 3d class sounds like fun (I don't want to jinx it, if I'm wrong) but your getting great experience in different areas.
In explaining what I mentioned about disowning the title of "Artist". I meant that I'm such a terrible designer, no ideas at all about design that I'm no good in class. Thinking about what I'm learning and the stuff that I like to do, I came to the conclusion that I didn't like "Art" and I figured that I might be better off doing something else for a living. Seriously, whenever anyone associated me with the word "Art", I would actually shrink and cower (I couldn't help but cringe at the thought of me ever dreaming of being an artist) all I ever did most of my life was draw. Luckily, I have this place to go to and am associated with some of the best artists (like you) that I've ever seen who inspire me not to quit, I decided that this will help me and I should stick with it because some day I will make it to that level and be thankful that I had these classes.
I don't really favor writting "that" much but I figure that if I don't get what I need to make it in the art world, I can at least be a comic book writer or something. Upon observation of my feelings, I subconsiously (beyond my control) try to do whatever I can to be as close to the business of animating or illustrating stories as possible. I don't think I would enjoy being an author for books like novels.

That's very sad to hear that you have been given such harsh critisism to make you feel like giving up something you love to do. I couldn't even imagine what it feels like to be brought down to make me not want to draw again. Fortunately for me I have so many kind people around me who are always supporting me, and that gives me a great deal of confidense.
What exactly is your perception of 'design'? From what I can see, there's nothing wrong with the designs in your pictures.
I'm so flattered that you consider me an inspiration! I don't know what to say about that. I'm not that great. :) Yes, stick with your classes, keep doing what make you feel happy, and ignore the critisisms you give yourself. I'm no good at giving advice really.
I still want to read one of your stories! :p I don't mind writing too much, I just can't seem to consentrate on writing a long, complete story.
Self confidence has always been my main enemy since I turned 11 and how easily what little I have can be crushed but I'm working on it though ^_^.
I just think of using lines, shapes, and colors according to surtain rules to create a good design. I can't really say what I know about design, I guess that's because I don't know what it is. I may be looking at it wrong but I don't really see design in my pictures at all.
You can't possibly be great being that your Exceptionaly Awesome, I think your a really nice person and I like your advice, I'll try my hardest. Thanks for being so nice, it's a rare trait where I walk.
Ok, that is... if I can get it out. I understand, sometimes it's the same with reading novels and other books

i have a hard time with self confidence also. People in middle and high school have been cruel, so I learned how to stay in the shadows. But after I graduated, everything changed, and now I am happier and a little more confident. I still feel rediculous when talking in front of others, or trying to make friends. I am always so, overly happy when i learn someone wants to spend their time with me, and I'm always overly impressed by people. I'm really very selfish though. All I care about is getting better.. and having fun, though my view of fun is INTERNET! XD and... games, and drawing. I need to draw more. ._.
I see, your story doesn't sound so different from mine. The same happened to me and I'm still learning how to conduct myself around people.
Looking at my fursona compared to who I am now, you wouldn't think we were the same. But Ryuunosuke is my true self (cheerful and more outspoken) that I keep inside while I'm more drawn back in reality. Internet and games sure are fun! ^_^

I started out as an animator, many years ago. I did it independently. It was way too expensive to start up an animation studio here in Virginia, so I left the field and went into illustration.
You do very well with your movement and acting. Your teacher might be saving the good stuff for last, in my opinion.
