From Calvin and Hobbes. Wow... how long has it been since I've actually read that old comic set.

Personally speaking, you win points for ingenuity here. Mainly because you've taken a classic and well renown character here and revamped it impressively!

It's about the same as redrawing a recent variation of Charlie Brown~!

This I like because you don't expect it. Sure it looks like a regular anthro tiger, but then you catch the title and look at the posture and how casual he looks and figure out who this really is supposed to be.

Maybe it's me wallowing in nostalgia while looking at this, but I damn well like it~!

Hehe, yes, it was an interesting request. It took long thinking for me to do this piece because not only do I want to make Hobbes look good, but make it LOOK LIKE HOBBES. Y'know? I didn't just wanna draw it and people not see a resemblance. I got a good look at Hobbes facial characteristics, like how simple the eyes were, the black ears, and etc. :)

Oh, btw, the Charlie Brown comment. I actually stumbled upon an anime version of Charlie Brown characters. It was rather good too!! O_O I agree with you that some old works should not be re-vamped but whoever the artist was, the characters were GLORIOUS!! <3
