That big heap of metal was the Old Boiler stack for the International Paper Mill that shut down in my hometown in 2007. They had already imploded other the #5 and #6 boilers last year and that was left, so they took it down too.
The skyline changed the day they shut the mill down....no more smoke coming from the stacks that could be seen as you approached the city. The only good thing that came out of it was that the stinky smell it gave off was gone.
600+ people lost their jobs.
Now there is nothing to look at when driving to my hometown. I did have pic of what i did look like but its been lost forever.
The land the mill sat on, along with the lumber yards and such....I was told the property was to be turned into Parks and Playgrounds.
