Another concept painting, this time of Von Herling facing the chief villain of my graphic novel, the vampire Vlad Magnus. Vlad is rendered in a more Expressionistic manner to make him look more scary and otherworldly (he's a vampire after all).
I used diluted acrylic paint for the various shades of gray. It worked very well; this work remind me of a Japanese ink painting!
The title of this work comes from a phrase in the 1992 Dracula movie by Francis Ford Coppola. Anthony Hopkins (as Abraham Van Helsing) recites this over and over (something similar to it) as he forces the vampiric Lucy back into her coffin with a cross.
