Garuff is an NPC from a pathfinder game I've started running recently. He's old and overweight and sort of over the hill, but he's a talented ranger.
He live...d in a gnoll village who were devout and crazed followers of Lamashtu and Rovagug reasonably uneventfully, though from the few sexual conquests he's had, he found himself unable to sire children, which gave him a rather humiliating nickname and a place near the lower rungs of the tribe, since he was getting up in age and didn't seem all that into Lamashtu and Rovagug.

Poor guy! Damn shame he couldn't sire children, but he seems like the kind of dude who'd know a thing or two about wilderness survival. Can respect that. Ya know, Lamashtan tribes don't exactly favor sterile members, but they CAN help themselves by tending to those who can have children, or raising and teaching those children in the ways of their divine mother. There's a chance for him, if he wants it. Though it sounds like he's gone out into less-evil ideologies, and that's fine too.
Luckily he was a good enough hunter to make up for his virile shortcomings, but he ended up, at the rife old age of 40-something, buying a bunch of child slaves from cheliax to raise as his own kids.
...Then one of them started a riot in the camp, and forced the rest of them and Garuff to flee, and started them on a stupidly grand adventure, far too big for an old man and 4 children.
