I wanted to try to make an action pose for Derrick since I hadn't drawn him in a while and I also beat Bayonetta a while back and wanted to make a character that had magic and guns who was extremely mobile, so I made this character on the bottom and named him Socks because his paws made it look like he was wearing Socks. I also wanted to make dog with the same conceptish and call him Shu. Then I realized  DT-Fox already had that idea except with a rabbit and a turtle. So either great minds think a like or DT imprinted this idea to me subconsciously (I think it's the latter).
