I really wish there was a category just for bones/skulls/other pieces of taxidermy, not just "leather working". Sheesh.
I got these beautiful steer horns while I was on vacation in Tennesse earlier this year. We'd searched high and low trying to find ANYTHING I could add to my collection, I wasn't picky on species as long as I didn't yet hae it in my collection. I'd only wished I had more money with me once I came across these, as the seller had elk, prongy, moose, and other horns available for sale.
These were used as Native American grain scoops, as is clear by the smooth rounded edges. One was damaged at one point before I got it, its smooth edge now a bit jagged and perhaps even sharp if you're not careful. The simple leather strap to hang the horn looked lovely attached, so I left it as is. They sit proudly in the bottom of my curiosity cabinet.
