Take a gray marker and just, color over those trees in the farthest background. Right now they're waay too similar in value to the parts of the wolf they touch. You just... a few strokes with a nice dark grey and, it'll work a lot better.
But I like some of that shading in the tree, and I'd like the wolf more if the background didn't match him so much.
