What if all art (sculpture, dance, painting, song, drawing etc) pre-existed on an immaterial plane?
Like, we can't see, hear or touch it, until it is brought into our perception via some medium?

Think of it like that episode of Phineas and Ferb where the machine was turned invisible and Candace tried to throw a bucket of paint on it, to get it to show.
The machine was still there, its just you wouldn't know unless something was covering it. This is what I mean essentially.

Imagine if you will, that everything you've drawn, painted, sung, sculpted, etc already existed in an unreachable realm that can only be brought into view, sight, touch, via a medium.

That character you like to draw is always moving around, doing something in its world when suddenly your pencil traces over its body, capturing what its doing at that precise moment.
