A heck of a curiosity. Back in 1988, a friend of my brother's had moved into a new apartment. She was very... bohemian, to say the least, so she had all of us draw something on her walls. Everybody else did the usual graffiti and heavy metal stuff, but I, the eternal funny animal toony guy, drew a proto-Alistair and proto-Kevin (humongous feet and all -- IIRC at this stage their feet were sometimes even bigger than THIS). She took a picture of all of it and sent it to us later. When she left, she had to paint over everything. Imagine that!

Incidentally, this wasn't meant to condone casual drug use; "Take a valium" was an expression that Allan's friends were using at the time if someone was experiencing a fit of angry drama. "Another Valium" was also the title of a song I'd just written about that very subject. In those days we were all a bit more casual about language -- remember when Bill and Ted said the gay slur that began with "f"? It got cut from the movie afterwards.

Anyway, it's kind of interesting now; the proto-Kevin looks awful to me but the Alistair is at least recognizable.
