Larger upper is scan pre-shrink, below post shrink. You can really get a sense for just how much these things really do shrink down! I also really like how the colors intensify once shrunk., All the detail seems to be kept, but they get brighter! There is a slight wave to the badge itself when it baked so it is not actually blurry, that is just how it scanned.

Partially, and partially the nature of the plastic film means it does not grab the pencil well. that's why you see some "scratches" in the pre-shrunk version. I had to sand the plastic to get any grab and it is notable around the letters... thankfully when shrunk that all evens out :)
It is a special type of plastic that shrinks when heated (in this case, I use 300 degrees for just a couple minutes). The paper comes in a few different types. I use the ink jet printable so I can print on it or draw on it directly. the wax of the pencils I used for the badges will intensify and melt into the plastic as it shrinks and makes the colors more permanent. The original sheet is the same size as a regular sheet of printer paper and I use half a sheet for each badge.
The plastic used to be used for fun when i was little and marketed as "Shrinky Dinks" which I have seen come back some in recent months :)
