Senator Derik Klevin was the appointed representative of the Badgir System during the final years of the Galactic Republic. During the final stages of the Clone Wars, Derik was one of many senators and political officals to sign the Petition of 2000 (or "Delegation of 2000") addressed to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The petition stated that as the war was nearing it's end, Palpatine should hand over the emergency powers he recieved during the majority of the conflict. Just like all others who signed the petition, Klevin was arrested for treason after the formation of the Galactic Empire. But people for him homeworld of Badgen and those of Badgek couldn't let their once proud senator and his aide be executed and a group of Badgenese and Brillekes combatants stormed the detention center on Coruscant, liberating Derik as well as many other such political prisoners, while Derik and his aide, Suzan Vates escaped, half the taskforce was captured or killed in action.
