◣QuetzalCats◢
A species shrouded in as much mystery and myth as the ancient serpent,
QuetzalCats are a race of a mystical past. No one knows exactly where or
how they came to be or how many really exist. Ancient tales tell of a blessing
from an powerful Quetzalcoatl on a tribe of locals for their devotion to the
serpant. The blessing marked them for all to see the fruits of their faith by
combining them with the very image of the serpent. Their feathers are soft
as silk but tough as leather. Highly intelligent and resourceful, QuetzalCats
are highly skilled in magics and crafting. Ruins of ancient unidentified cities
could mark the existence of a once thriving species. But skeptics argue these
ruins could be little more than unknown Mayan or Aztec cities. Not the center
of QuetzalCat population in times past.
Male QuetzalCats are the warriors, hunters and prominent leaders of QuetzalCat tribes.
Though rare, female leaders and warriors are not unheard of. Young male QuetzalCats
must go through initiation rights when they come of age to prove their worth to the tribe
and earn their role in it. These initiations test their hunting skills, their fighting ability,
magical use, crafting skills, survival knowledge and religious faith. Tests they excel in
tend to be the role they are given. Leaders however usually tend to come from the
same family bloodlines for generations.
Males are the only hunters in a tribe. This is because even in the tropical forests in which
they live, sneaking up on prey with their brightly colored feathers is difficult to impossible.
The bright feathers also make them easily visible to dangerous animals and enemies.
Male QuetzalCats have overcome this set back by developing a kind of magical chameleon
effect with their feathers. The male has the ability to turn this magical flow on and off.
When activated, his feathers meld and change color with the surrounding plants. Just
like a chameleon's scales. This makes them more difficult to spot by prey and enemies alike.
They are a closed species, that means you cant make one for yourself.
