This was taken back in July during the rainy season. One weekend we had such heavy rainfall that part of Kumamoto's suburbs were flooded. And all of Kyushu for that matter. I thought I would check out the aftermath by the river a couple kilometers from my dorm.
All that dirt wasn't there before the flood hit. That sediment from the river was carried up to houses dozens of meters away from the shoreline. Some of the houses lost entire walls facing the river, structures balancing on only a few beams of wood.
Amid all the wreckage and the construction vehicles, I came across a house with an interesting looking dog tied to the porch. It looked like a shiba inu, but I hadn't seen one of that color pattern before. There's a possibility that it could be a different breed mixed with a shiba. What that breed could be is hard to make out.
