There are a number of ways this could go, but a lot of that depends on knowing the subtle details of your life well too. So, not going off those details if I can help it, I'll go with what can be seen with the picture.
First, it looks to be a pretty human skull, which puts part of the meaning into it to most likely be on the human/RL side of things potentially. the skull is clean, which is pretty normal any time skull icons come up, which doesn't give any strong impression about a particular kind of thing being focused on, but rather a larger whole.
Second to that, you have the flames (of course). there's no marks of supposed skull going to ash, so again, a somewhat classical set up of fire to something. Suggests a cleansing, a severing, or similar abolishment of something. Technically, it could be considered somewhat oath-like in a way - a vow to never go back to a particular thought or theme or such (though the idea of severing the way back to it is still there).
Third that comes to mind is the eyes. Offhand, I don't recall what eye color you normally use, so it may not be much of a detail as I think, but if so, the sudden changing into dark colors like that may have a meaning. Since I"m not sure though, I'm gonna leave out theories on it for now.
Fourth is the expression. This is either a neutral, focused face, or one with a slight frown; serious in nature. It suggests this skull burning is hardly a whimsical, light thing, but something of which is felt to be pretty important. Whether it's to make sure it properly burns away, or a want to see it until it is no longer possible...who knows?

The skull looks really detailed, as well as your character, fur and clothes.
Lines are clean and well fined.
I like the fire that youve made, as well as the lighting.
The only complaint is the shadows.
It looks a little too dark for the back.
And maybe the right arm.
It looks like its just popping out of her left.
Maybe a shoulder to her elbow showing, even a little, would look better.

This is very interesting, I've been staring at it for a while, trying to put together some inkling of a thought towards its meaning.
What I've concluded, though I'm never that good at this sort of thing, is that the skull is a representation of a self, maybe not a complete self, but some aspect of your being. It's humanistic, unlike your sona's canine-esqu, so perhaps it has something to do with your human self. The flame looks as though it is being manifested by your sona, thus purposefully burning the skull that may or may not represent part of your human self, thus leaving it behind to memories. Perhaps you have made some recent decisions to better yourself, and you're physically manifesting the change and leaving behind of that unwanted aspect. ....
Like I said, not all that good with this sort of stuff.
But it's a beautiful image C:

Symbolism! It feels like you have the skull as a reminder of something. A former self? Looking at it with such ferocity, you don't want to let it go and abandon it. I see a crossroads- a sense of normalcy. Perhaps the perverbial "deep end" of a normal like and to consume yourself to your persona? Hesitation with blank, expressionless eyes. It's as easy as letting go, but you find it compelling to hold onto that side of yourself. Or someone. Hard to say. It's a somber piccie to view.
Nostalgia.
I opened some of the boxes that I hadn't touched since I first moved in. A lot of it was stuff that I justified for old time's sake. Stuff I treasured and enjoyed years and years ago, but have long since moved on by then. I held onto it because...well, it seemed wrong to just throw it away, y'know? But things have changed. I've realized the excuses now were just excuses, and holding onto nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia isn't worth it.
This picture is that. It's what you saw yourself as, as much as you loathed it. It was a role you were forced into, something you hated but sighed in resignation and accepted. This was what you were.
You're not that anymore. You're this now. You're done being someone else's thoughts of you. You are your own person, now, bold enough to recognize that other people's opinions do not matter. They never did.
And so, away goes the persona that never was. Watch out, world.
Snowy's coming for you.
