Like his younger daughter, Deirdre, Feargus Lohan is a born wanderer. He has spent his whole life walking the roads and the hidden paths of the island of Viridis, and he is only truly happy with a pack on his back. Just because you're over 60, he says, is no reason to quit moving. He is a merchant of sorts, and an itinerant tinker and, while he isn't famous like his daughter or his granddaughter, he still likes to think that he has helped to improve life on the island in little ways.

Oh, I agree. I think there's a lot of good to be had in exploring the world around you, and there's nothing like actually visiting a place yourself to really get to know what it's like. I've been lucky enough to get to do some traveling and it absolutely can be like being an explorer, even if it's just one a personal level. There's so much to see out there, and so many things to find and to learn.
I'm not sure it's something I could do for a long time, like Feargus has, or even like Deirdre. But I've always loved the idea of just setting out to explore the world around me for a while. As I may have mentioned once before, I've always had this silly dream of trying to hike across as much of Europe as I possibly could over the space of a year or so. I kind of doubt that will happen, but that's what fantasy is good for.
I've been wanting to get Feargus drawn for a long time now. I'm still trying to put Deirdre's childhood together, and her father was always an important part of her early life. I'd love for him to actually get to meet Ciara someday, too, as he's still very much alive by the time of Oseille and its sequel. I'm really glad to get to see him drawn at last, too, and Mander did a great job of making him look so much like his family while still making him unique. I actually gave her pictures of Deirdre to use as refs for his design, and she really went above and beyond with this.
Now I just have to get Deirdre's mother and big sister drawn, too.
