I think that might be the average. The oldest one I can find is a golden eagle who lived to be 55, and while I can't seem to find any info to back it up, I was told by a reliable source that the oldest one lived to be 72 or so.
But it also depends on where they are housed and the resouces available to the bird's keeper. Also, birds that are actively used for hunting will probabily have a shorter life span as they have a higher risk of injury and disease.

The most I can remember is from an old book I borrowed from the library and a few documentaries; my falconry book mentions them too but only in passing. Human Planet covers berkutchi for a little; following a boy as he eaglenaps his bird and trains it up.
And yes, NOBODY EVER BLAMES THE BEEPIEST.

Nicely done, beautiful. Yes, the most reliable record I've seen was about 50 in captivity. I think it was a golden eagle in the London Zoo. In the wild the known record for a bald is 33y based on banding records. I would hazard a guess that bookends are a bit less than that due to their harder lifestyle. Love the pic and the story it tells!
