This was the hardest thing Psych had ever recalled needing to do. She leaned against the tree that she and Remy usually met under and knocked her head back against the bark in a slow, repetitive motion. She smelled like cigarette smoke… and one could wonder if maybe she had taken a drag off of one before coming here. It was an odd thing for Psych to smoke, but it wasn’t something she was against doing…
She was anxious and her throat felt tight. She’d been crying for the last hour, knowing what it was she was about to do. Part of her hoped the wolf would never show up and she’d be left to change her mind, but part of her knew she needed to do this as well. For her own sanity.
She stopped knocking her head against the tree and started to pace, pulling her phone out of her pocket every couple seconds to see if the minute had changed. She was expecting the girl to be here any moment now.
After a few more rounds of pacing the purple feline stuffed her phone back into her pocket and drags her hands down her face. She already knew what she wanted to say “Remy… no matter what, I’m always going to care about you, babe. I swear to god I’ll always care about you… but I need to end this. Before it gets any more serious.” And then she sneered to herself and turned to the tree again to slam her head a little harder against it. Any more serious? How much more serious could it have gotten? After the few nights before… Psych sighed and crouched down with her back against the trunk. She was fairly certain she’d been her first, which was actually a pretty nice feeling… but it was making this choice all the more difficult to carry out. She’d sure seem like a fucking bitch after this especially… Wait, change that. She would be a bitch. She’d be a bitch, know she was a bitch, and feel really shitty over it.
But it needed to be done, she told herself. It’d be even worse if she just vanished without saying anything.
Which she’d thought seriously about doing just to save her this heartbreaking conversation.
“Psych?” she looked up to have her blood turn cold at the sight of the teenager standing in front of her.
“Hey, Remy…” she tried to swallow the knot in her throat as she stood up, meeting the concerned eyes of the wolf. Remy instantly knew that something was wrong with the feline.
“Is everything alright?” she asked her, stepping forward to be closer to her… only to be stopped when Psych held up a hand.
“Remy, I need to talk to you.” And the words that brought terror to anyone in a serious relationship were out. Remy took a step back, brows coming together as a desperate look flashed across her features.
“…about what?” but Psych felt that the gray wolf already knew what was coming. It took everything Psych had not to let her voice crack.
“Rems… I can’t ask you to wait for me…” she’d forgotten what she’d wanted to say to her. All that preparation and now she just couldn’t remember her words. The last time she’d broken up with someone, she hadn’t needed to say much. She’d broken his nose for being too pushy and trying to get into her pants before she was ready. But this situation was entirely different… and she’d be lucky if she didn’t end up having a broken nose of her own after this “I’m so sorry… but I really don’t think we should keep on. I’ve been thinking this over for the last couple of nights and I’m just… I need to get away. The city is closing in on me and I don’t thin-“
“So you’re just leaving me?” the wolf interrupted, giving her a look of pain and disgust “After the other night, you’re just dropping me, huh? Wow, Psych. Wow. Guess you really were the man in this relationship.” She spat and the next moment she’s turning on her heel.
Psych reached out of her, grabbing her arm “Remy…” her tone was pleading but the wolf just shrugged her off, turned, and shoved her back “Get the fuck away from me, Psych!” she snarled, rage lighting up her features. No tears, like Psych had expected, just the hurting look of one pissed off Remy. Psych had stumbled back against the tree. For only a moment more did they continue looking at each other, eyes locked before Remy turned again and stormed away. Psych watched her go, feeling herself tremble as she watched her former girlfriend vanish around the corner of the nearest building.
If she’d just let her finish, she’d have been able to tell her that she’d be coming back at some point and she’d hoped if Remy hadn’t found someone else that they’d be able to start again. But that seemed out of the question.
I might rewrite this story. Make it to where Psych left Remy her necklace because I forgot to draw it on her. lmao
I'm emotional right now and ended up drawing this and then I thought about the story behind it and the thought of her leaving Remy came to mind. This has more of my emotions tied into it than one can imagine.
But the story isn't canon... UNLESS PEYTON WANTS IT TO BE. D8 And then Psych comes back and tries to get Remy to be hers again. Could totally work. I bet Remy wouldn't want her, which would be like a challenge for Psych because she'd keep trying.
I really like how this turned out. Except the guitar case. Yuck.
...I forgot to add my signature. Shit. I'll add it when I'm not feeling so lazy.
Psych is mine.
Remy, who is mentioned in the story belongs to the lovely
