Ha ha ha! That's a good one! This "comic strip pun" reminds me of some old cartoons from 1920s to early 1950s where a character snatches things like stars, throws them, whatever! I love those old-fashioned cartoons...they somehow keep my inner kid happy, as if I'm back in deaf school watching cartoons like Popeye, old Bugs Bunny flicks, Road Runner, Tom and Jerry, Chilly Willy, and so on!
I agree...I literally grew up watching those old cartoon flicks...I would bet a lot of deafs about my age would have gone through that stage.
And yes, I love those Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner flicks. Note that It is not "William"; it is "Wile E.", and note that it actually sounds like the word for "wily", which is ironic since that coyote is perpetually hapless loser. The creators liked to play with words (punning, etc.). When I was a kid, I did not realize the subtle humor behind those things. I now really appreciate that.
Funny thing is, my brother, who is hearing, said the same thing!
